A World Never To Return
Gone with the wind are the days I once knew. Everything is different now. Much different from the times that I once and see and known. It was much simpler to live back then. I bet that my father might have also had the same thoughts that I am having at this moment while writing this post. Nostalgic, Yes, for things in life and the way we are living it gets more and more complicated with passing years. It was simpler back then.
We did not have as much as we now have. Our earnings have increased and so has the complication of earning it has too. We spend what we earn just to get something that we believe that we need, but what we get with even paying more than what we once paid, is not of the same quality nor quantity.
We buy from glamour and glitter as it seems we are buying them and in the bargain we are cock sure that we have done ourselves the favour of buying something good. The fact is that we bought even better from the shop in the corner, back in the past from none of the glamour and glitter and it was sure then what we truly intended to buy.
Our children are born into this age where they know nothing of except the mobile and computing devices. They can’t even imagine that there existed a world sans it. Yet, for us getting to a telephone to communicate to some distance ear was an adventure which we enjoyed. My father before me had to actually travel to the ear over distances which sometimes which was adventurous, which took with joy and his strides.
Those were true communications. The simple faded printed photographs long lost in the physical long lost in some corner of the home gathering dust is also a faded memory. It is all refined photographs to enhance the personality but not the true self.
As I say those days that I once knew have gone with the wind never to return to my present and yours too. The joy of us living together which is no longer the same as each of us has to part for reason that we do not want to but for reasons that this economic age compels us to. If we do not listen to the dictates of the present then we are not compatible with it.
Our cities are not longer the cities that we once knew. Our villages and towns are also no longer the same for our cities have become over populated and the folks in the villages have come thinner and thinner. In the interest for better lifestyles and comforts of the glamorous urban settlements and faster lifestyles have become the magnet to cause this disproportion where in search for happiness which got temporarily some disappears to bring the true reality of misery, stress and sickness.
Gone with the wind when it was totally the opposite story. Where being mischievous was not as being evil. Now evil and bad is not taken as important and the virtue of mankind all depends on how much of wealth he has, though, hardly anyone feels that it is important whether he has made it from the sweat of his brows.
Seeing the way things are going I bet my children will have the same feeling when they are of my age that the days they once knew has gone with the wind never to come back, just as I feel now.
